FASA Dance Company

FASA DANCE COMPANY (FDC) is a service offered by CSUN FASA where you can book FASA to come and perform at your event. With dances ranging from Tinikling to Mumbaki, we provide a variety of dances from each region.

Tinikling: Tinikling derives from the Leyte region of the Philippines and features dancers dancing in-between, and avoiding bamboo sticks. This imitates the movements of the tikling bird in the fields, dodging the bamboo traps of rice farmers.

Mumbaki: From the Ifugao region of the Philippines. Mumbaki is a feast/celebration dance. Also known as Uyaoy. Men spread their arms to imitate the sakpaya hawk's majestic glide and stamp their feet to affirm their affinity with the cosmic earth as the women throw their arms upward while scratching the ground with their toes. Mumbaki refers to shamans who can carry out the act of baki or sacrifice something to appease the spirits. The dance also represents a ceremony known as dawat di bagol in which a mumbaki (shaman) is elevated to the status of mumbagol through a series of rice rituals that strengthen the bond between the people, i-pugaw, and the deities, i-kabunyan.
